  • Build lean muscle mass
Strength training helps build lean muscle mass in the body. Adding muscle adds the most potent fat burning tissue which is the most metabolically active tissue in your body. It is therefore necessary to  build as much as possible. According to studies done, for each pound of muscle you add to your body, you burn an additional 35 to 50 calories per day. Other studies have shown that strength training increases the metabolic rate by 15%.


  • Move your body
To burn excess calories, you need to get up and get moving. Whether it's walking, jogging or even running.  Take the stairs instead of the lift or park a few blocks away. It also helps to keep the remote control away from you. The ability to lose weight is increased by moving your body and exercising regularly. It also makes it easier to keep the weight off.
 

  • Build calorie burning muscle
Muscle is the most metabolically active tissue in your body and it's your "furnace" for burning calories throughout the day.
